2022 World Cup: South Korea plans to beat Ghana and Uruguay to progress

South Korea, led by coach Paulo Bento, will compete in the 2022 World Cup Qatar, which will be held in November in Qatar. Korea, which is in Group H, will battle for a place in the round of 16 against Portugal, Uruguay, and Ghana.

South Korea was placed in the same group as Portugal ranked 8th, which has the lowest FIFA ranking among the top port countries. Port No. 2 Uruguay is also competitive against big European teams like the Netherlands and Germany. Ghana, ranked fourth, has the lowest FIFA ranking among World Cup participants, sitting in 60th position. Korea was also fortunate to be the only country in Group H to play at Al Rayyan, Qatar’s Education City Stadium.

The South Koreans plan to secure three points in the second game with Ghana on November 28. According to them capturing Ghana will move them one step closer to qualifying for the round of 16.

They also indicated that the best scenario is to break up Uruguay and Ghana, who meet in the first and second rounds. And playing Portugal in their last group game is good for them. “If Portugal wins all the previous matches and advances to the round of 16 early and secures first place in the group, the possibility of losing strength in the Korean match can be expected,”

However, the South Koreans are afraid this plan will backfire like their 2014 World Cup participation. South Korea targeted Algeria, which they thought was a done deal. They lost 2-4 and were eliminated from the group stage with 1 draw and 2 losses.
