2023 AFCON qualifiers: Arsenal star Thomas Partey omitted from Black Stars squad as a precaution
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was omitted from the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 African Cup qualifiers and Kirin Cup as a precaution.
Partey, who suffered a thigh injury in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace early April was unable to feature for the Gunners for the rest of the season.
The midfielder returned to training last week but could not feature in the club’s final game of the season against Everton.
Footballghana.com understands Partey who is not 100% fit was left out of Ghana’s squad released on Thursday morning as a precaution and to ensure he is not rushed back too quickly.
Ghana are taking on Madagascar and the Central African Republic next week and have called up 33 players for the matches.
