2023 AFCON qualifiers: Ghana drawn in Group E to face Madagascar, Angola, Central Africa Republic
Ghana has been pitted in Group E of the qualifiers for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The draw for the group stage of the qualifiers has been held in South Africa today with all 48 national teams placed in 12 different groups.
At the end of the draw, Ghana has been handed tough opponents in Madagascar, Angola, Central Africa Republic.
The Black Stars did qualify for the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament but failed to impress.
At the tournament staged in Cameroon, the national team of the West African country could not win a single match in Group C and was knocked out at the group stage after losing the final game against debutants Comoros.
Subsequently, Ghana regrouped and managed to stun Nigeria in the playoff tie of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Today after knowing their group for the next AFCON, the Black Stars must prepare to fight for another qualification.
The national team has in the last four decades missed out on winning the AFCON and continues to chase the trophy.
