Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah leaves door open for Ghana nationality switch ahead of 2022 World Cup

Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has sparked hopes of playing for the Ghana national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.

The English youth star in interview has confirmed his desire to feature for the Black Stars as both of his parents are Ghanaians.

Nketiah, who was born in England has featured for the junior national teams of the European country.

The Ghana FA are in advanced talk to capture the youngster from England for the mundial.

His Ghanaian team-mate Thomas Partey has also piled the pressure on the youngster who now is keen to make the move to play for the Black Stars with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar looming.

‘Of course, it is a possibility. I’m open to both, playing for Ghana and playing for England as well,” Nketiah told The Beautiful Game podcast when asked about the move to play for the Black Stars.

“It’s always good to have the opportunity to potentially do that,” the yougster added.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group H of the World Cup along with European giants Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

Ghana are making their 4th appearance at the World Cup after participating in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions.

They will open their account against Portugal on November 24 before taking on South Korea in the second group game on November 28 and Uruguay in the last round four days later.
