Asamoah Gyan, often known as Babyjet in football circles, scored 50 international goals faster than PSG’s Lionel Messi and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gyan is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals and the country’s most capped player with 109 appearances.
The former Liberty Professionals attacker scored 50 goals in 103 appearances for Ghana, which is about one goal per two games.
Although Ronaldo and Messi have each scored more goals for their various national teams, Gyan has reached 50 international goals faster.
According to a report released by the Daily Mail, Ronaldo required 114 matches to score 50 goals for Portugal, while Messi needed 121 games for Argentina.
Gyan scored on his senior international debut for Ghana against Somalia on 19 November 2003 in the 90th minute.
During Ghana’s successful World Cup qualifying campaign, he scored four goals in seven games, helping the country qualify for its first World Cup in history. He was a member of Ghana’s Olympic team in 2004, which exited in the first round after finishing third in Group B.
