Ex-Ghana attacker Mohammed Polo rallies support for underfire Black Stars coach CK Akonnor

Former Ghana international, Mohammed Polo is calling for support for Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor after coming underfire in the last 24 hours.

The Ghana national team head coach has been heavily criticised since Monday’s narrow defeat to South Africa in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

According to some Ghanaians, CK Akonnor is not the right man for the job and must be shown the exit door.

Reacting to persons of such beliefs in an interview on Otec FM, Mohammed Polo says he disagrees.

The experienced coach notes that instead of the backlash, CK Akonnor should be given support to carry on.

“Ghanaians should support C.K Akonnor because it’s never too late. The current players in the Black Stars are the best he has now,” Mohammed Polo told Otec FM in an interview.

The former Hearts of Oak gaffer added, “Let support him and see the way forward. Let’s support our own because the foreign coaches only come and spend our money.”

After losing to South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers, Ghana no longer occupies top spot on the Group G standings.

The Stars trail the Bafana Bafana and now has to prepare for the next round of fixtures in the qualifiers.
