Ex-Super Eagles official describe Nigeria’s failure to qualify for WC as a big disappointment

A former Coordinator of the Super Eagles, Mr. Emmanuel Danjuma Attah says Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a massive disappointment.

Drawn against Ghana in the playoff tie of the African qualifiers for the world cup, the Super Eagles were tagged as the clear favourites.

However, after two legs, Ghana qualified ahead of Nigeria thanks to the away goal rule.

Speaking in an interview, Emmanuel Danjuma Attah says he was shocked by the results, describing it as a very big disappointment.

“It is a very big disappointment that Nigeria is not going to be part of the 2022 World Cup. If I was told that Ghana would end Super Eagles bid to be at the World Cup, I would have said it won’t be possible,” he shared.

Mr. Danjuma continued, “The Black Stars are no longer what they used to be. Maybe we were deceived by their poor outing at the 2021 AFCON. After the 0-0 draw in Kumasi, I thought the Eagles would complete the job in Abuja to make Nigerians happy but that didn’t happen.”

At the world cup, Ghana has been pitted in Group H where the Black Stars will face the likes of Portugal, Uruguay, as well as South Korea.
