Former Ghana defender Daniel Coleman charges Mohammed Salisu to accept Black Stars call up
Former Ghana international Daniel Coleman called on Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu to accept Black Stars call up.
Despite meeting Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku earlier this month, Salisu was missing in the 33-man squad released by Otto Addo on Thursday.
Okraku met Salisu in England and discussed the player’s refusal to play for the senior national team after several attempts from the GFA. Okraku was on a working visit and managed to travel to Southampton to meet the highly talented defender.
During the meeting, Salisu made clear his desire to play for Ghana but Okraku jokingly pressed him to name the date which forced the confession from the player.
In an interview with Angel TV, the former Hearts of Oak towering guardsman entreated Salisu to accept Black Stars call up.
“Salisu is doing well at Southampton, I will advise him to accept Ghana call up. He is doing hide and seek with the national team but to me, if he feels he has the confidence to play, he should just accept Black Stars invite and prove his worth to Ghanaians” he said.
Salisu enjoyed an amazing season with Southampton in the just ended English Premier League campaign.
