Ghana FA to get 8 million dollars from FIFA
The Ghana Football Association will soon witness a major financial boost following an increment of the FIFA Forward development funds meant for member associations.
The FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced during the world football governing body’s 72nd Congress, that each member association will receive 25% more as allotment for the Forward 3.0 Programme.
By this, the Ghana Football Association which is one of 211 members stands to get around USD 8 million per for a four year cycle; an improvement from the previous amount of USD 6 million.
“A 25% increase means that, compared to 2016, when I arrived as FIFA President, each member association will now receive around (USD) 8 million in a four-year period,” the FIFA President said in advance of the Congress approving the detailed budget for 2023.
“This corresponds to seven times more than what was the case before 2016. A sevenfold increase of money that goes where it has to go: into solidarity projects, football development projects. This USD 2.2 billion will go straight to the member associations’ development programmes, ” he added.
The GFA used the FIFA Forward 1.0 funds for a country-wide Borehole project. The money will be used to develop Premier League, Division One League, Women’s Premier League pitches and Game Centres of Regional Football Associations all year including the dry season.
The FIFA Forward 2.0 also went into various infrastructural development projects at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of excellence.
The Ghana Football Association was represented at the 72nd FIFA Congress in Doha, Qatar by President Kurt Okraku, his vice Mark Addo and General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo.
ABOUT FIFA FORWARD
FIFA Forward is a “step change” for global football development and the way FIFA share the success of the FIFA World Cup with member associations.
The programme is built on three principles to provide 360 degree, tailor-made support for football development in each of our member associations and the six confederations:
• more investment,
• more impact,
• more oversight.
The aim is to improve the way football is developed and supported across the globe, so that the sport can reach its potential in every nation and so that everyone that wants to take part can do so without barriers.
More investment We are significantly increasing our financial support for member associations and football development to 5 million USD per four-year cycle for each member association from 1.6 million USD per cycle.
This means each association has access to 750,000 US dollars per year for football projects such as pitches, competitions and women’s football.
