Ghana goalie Joseph Wollacott opens up on rivalry with Richard Ofori

Ghana goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott has disclosed that there is no rivalry between himself and experienced shot-stopper Richard Ofori.

Due to an injury to the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper in 2021, the Swindon Town hero was invited to man the post for Ghana in the run-up to the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

After making a mark, Joseph Wollacott has since last year October been the regular first choice for Ghana’s senior national team.

While many believe there is friction between the England-based goalkeeper and Richard Ofori, he says there is nothing of that sort.

According to Wollacott, he has a good relationship with the South Africa-based goalkeeper and respects him a lot.

“Probably not. It’s good working with him. He (Richard Ofori) pushes me and I do the same. I have a lot of respect for him,” Joseph Wollacott said.

With Joseph Wollacott growing stronger and excelling in England, he looks set to make the Black Stars squad that will be invited for the start of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers next month.
