It is a privilege to be Black Stars coach - Otto Addo

Interim Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has said it is a privilege to head the Ghana national team.

The Borussia Dortmund talent coach was appointed in February ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff against Nigeria.

Addo, 47, was given the role after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) parted ways with Milovan Rajevac following a poor display at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Black Stars defender, who was an assistant coach to the Serbian, was then handed the role of leading the new Ghana technical team which constituted of Chris Hughton, George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

Asked about his feeling about leading the national team, Addo, “It’s stress but this is how it is. You only get opportunities like this in crisis or like when everything is fine and they will call you, ‘can you help us?’

“So this is the situation as a coach and at the end of the day, it’s a privilege to sit here and also to help the nation.”

Addo secured Ghana’s return to the World Cup after the Black Stars qualified ahead of the Super Eagles after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline on Tuesday, March 29.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will know the group opponent for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later today.
