LIVE UPDATES: Ghana v Madagascar – 2023 AFCON qualifiers

Good evening and welcome to the live text coverage of the clash between Ghana and Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium in the Central Region of Ghana.

Today’s contest being played under bright floodlights is part of games to be played in the first round of matches in Group E of the qualifiers for next year’s AFCON scheduled to be staged in Ivory Coast.

Ghana having performed terribly at the 2021 AFCON is aiming to secure a ticket to play at the next tournament to have the chance to make amends.

Now with a new head coach in Otto Addo, there is a new feel about the Black Stars with several new players coming in to augment the squad.

This evening’s contest despite being tricky, sees Ghana heading into kick-off at 19:00GMT as the favourites to secure victory.

Coach Otto Addo in his starting eleven has decided to keep faith in EFL League Two goalkeeper of the season Joseph Wollacott.

Daniel Amartey starts in the heart of the defense of the Black Stars.

In the absence of talisman Thomas Partey, workaholic Baba Iddrisu will have a lot to do this evening as he partners with young star Mohammed Kudus.

The experienced Jordan Ayew starts up front and will be working with Felix Afena-Gyan.

Ahead of the game, Coach Nicolas Dupuis who is in charge of Madagascar has resorted to naming a strong first eleven as he aims to upset the odds.
