Match Report: Asante Kotoko 3-1 Dreams FC, Porcupine Warriors move top after comeback win

Asante Kotoko came back from a goal down to seal a comfortable win over Dreams FC in a Ghana Premier League game on Saturday.

The Porcupine Warriors hosted the Still Believe in a Match Week 23 encounter at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi.

Asante Kotoko entered the game seeking to do the double over Dreams FC after beating them in the first round at Dawu.

Dreams also approached the game with revenge on their minds following the first round results.

Dreams drew first blood after 33 minutes through an Emmanuel Ocran converted penalty.

The away side were awarded a penalty after Fabio Gama handled the ball in the box.

Kotoko were spurred on by the goal conceded as they rallied to get themselves back into the game.

Making his first start, Brazilian striker Michael Vinicius restored parity minutes later.

Emmanuel Gyamfi broke from the right-wing and produced a delightful cross which was met with a strong header from Vinicius to level the scores.

Both sides them went into the first half with the game tied and finely poised.

Back from recess, Asante Kotoko asserted their superiority over Dreams as they pushed them back with consistent attacks.

Kotoko Coach Mariano Barreto had made an attacking change with Augustine Okrah coming off for Osman Ibrahim before the start of the second half.

Three minutes after the start of the second half, Kotoko made another attacking change as Michael Vinicius was replaced by Francis Andy Kumi.

Kumi made the needed impact, five minutes after entering the game. The Young striker won a penalty for his side after what appeared as a push in the box.

Abdul Ismail Ganiyu stepped up and converted nicely to give the home side the lead.

Kotoko kept on pushing and were rewarded with yet another goal this time around from Andy Kumi.

With he score 3-1, the Porcupine Warriors strolled to victory by managing the game well till the bast of the final whistle.

The result sees Asante Kotoko move top of the table ahead of Sunday’s Fixtures.

They now lead with a point Tally of 41 points with Olympics dropping to second with 40.

Medeama SC on 39 points and in third place will have a chance to reclaim top spot when they face Liberty Professionals on Sunday.
