Midfielder Mohammed Kudus can win Eredivisie title on Wednesday

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus could win the Eredivisie with Ajax on Wednesday following a thrilling weekend in the Netherlands.

Ajax dropped points in a 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar on Sunday afternoon. Mohammed Kudus did not start the game, he came on in the 82nd minute replacing Daley Blind.

Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Brian Brobbey gave Ajax a first-half lead but AZ rallied to reclaim the lead. Ajax needed a goal from midfielder Edson Alvarez in the 86th minute to earn a point.

The excellent news for Ajax is that rivals PSV Eindhoven lost an opportunity to capitalize on Ajax’s misstep, drawing 2-2 away at Feyenoord.

Cody Gakpo’s brace had placed PSV on course for a 2-1 victory when Feyenoord was given a penalty in the fifth minute of added time. Cyril Dessers scored to give Ajax a 2-2 tie.

Erik ten Hag’s team is still four points ahead of second-placed PSV, with only two games remaining.

This indicates that Ajax may capture the Eredivisie title as early as Wednesday night when they host eighth-placed Heerenveen, a team with just 10 victories in 32 games.

Ajax’s victory will secure the title regardless of PSV’s outcome against NEC, which takes place at the same time on Wednesday.

Mohammed Kudus has played 14 games for Ajax this season in the Eredivisie and scored one goal.
