2022 WC Qualifiers: Milovan Rajevac assesses Ghana’s win over Zimbabwe
Ghana head coach Milovan Rajevac is satisfied with his team’s performance against Zimbabwe on match day three of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers
The Black Stars put in a good shift to dispatch the Warriors 3-1 at the Cape Coast stadium to get back to winning ways after losing to South Africa in September.
Ghana made a great start to the game and took an early lead five minutes into the game through Mohammed Kudu who drilled home with his right foot following a beautiful team play between him and Jordan Ayew.
But the visitors restored parity from the penalty through captain Knowledge Musona five minutes into the second half.
Thomas Partey restored Ghana’s lead following a brilliant solo effort past the hour mark before Andre Ayew’s header late in the game sealed all three points.
Milo who was making his second bow as Coach of the Black Stars gave his assessment of his team’s performance after the match.
“All in all, it was a good game after the result we had. We started the game well but later in the match we had some problems especially in the second half and we conceded a goal but I managed to identify some of the problems and to make the right substitution so we came back and won” The 67 year old told ghanafa.org.
“We were lucky at some moments of the match but the most important for us is that we got three points and out hard work has paid off” he concluded.
Ghana now moves to 6 points and sit second in the Group G table – one point behind leaders South Africa who beat Ethiopia 3-1 in Addis Ababa.
The Black Stars will hope to continue their winning run when they take on the Warriors in the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Harare.
