Medeama PRO Patrick Akoto explains why club severed ties with goalkeeper Frank Boateng

Communications Director of Medeama SC, Patrick Akoto has explained why his outfit parted ways with goalkeeper Frank Boateng after just a season.

Boateng, who joined the Yellow and Mauves on a free transfer from Ashantigold last season saw his contract terminated at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

It is said the Tarkwa-based club were not impressed with the performance of the goalkeeper after his costly howlers gifted Hearts of Oak a resounding 3-0 win in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals, hence the decision to part ways.

But in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Patrick Akoto refuted such claims and said it was the decision of the goalkeeper that led to his departure.

“Players come and go, Boateng had to move on but the timing of his exit led to all this brouhaha but the bottom line is that, he felt he wanted to move on and people must understand he wanted to move and we also helping him to move on so it becomes easier”

“We have a good relationship with him, he’s done his best for the club but unfortunately it didn’t happen as we expected” he said.
