Rashid Abubakar’s challenge on Obeng Junior was ‘stupid’ – Accra Lions technical director Ibrahim Tanko
Ibrahim Tanko, Technical Director of Accra Lions FC in the Ghana Premier League, has described defender Abdul Rashid Abubakar’s tackle on Accra Hearts of Oak striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior as stupid.
The referee pulled out the red card and sent Abdul Rashid Abubakar off in the 38th minute of Accra Lions’ loss against Hearts of Oak SC on Friday afternoon, after a reckless tackle on Kwadwo Obeng Junior in the Hearts of Oak box.
The tackle that left Obeng Junior on the ground in the opening minute assured that Accra Lions FC finished the game with ten men and technical director Ibrahim Tanko was not happy with Abubakar.
Afriyie Barnieh scored twice and Isaac Agyenim Boateng added a third to give the champions all three points.
Tanko told StarTimes after the game that the red card changed the game and Accra Lions players dropped too deep.
“After ten minutes of the game our players dropped back which was not good” And also the red card our player received was a very very stupid from him excuse me to say,”
“And I think that’s what changed the game,”
The Phobians march on in their attempt to retain the trophy they won last season.
