Son Heung-min scores fastest goal for Ghana’s World Cup opponent South Korea
Son Heung-min scored a spectacular free kick and boosted his chances of scoring a straight free kick at the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.
The last time South Korea scored a free kick at the World Cup was in the 2010 World Cup group stage match against Nigeria.
Park Joo-young scored with a shot that perfectly deviated from the defensive wall in a tight 1-1 match. Park Joo-young’s goal allowed South Korea to achieve their first away feat in the round of 16.
Park Joo-young’s free-kick goal was hailed as the best direct free-kick goal in Korea’s World Cup history, but this was the last.
Since then, Korea has not been able to score from a direct free kick in the World Cup. There were only field goals at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
South Korea is in Group H with Ghana, Uruguay, and Portugal.
