Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhutl confirms talks with Mohammed Salisu over Black Stars
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has disclosed that he has held talks with Mohammed Salisu over the possibility of playing for Ghana.
The promising centre back is yet to feature for the Black Stars.
Salisu has turned down several chances to play for his country, citing that he is not ready.
Salisu has already turned down five invites from Ghana and now his coach has added his voice to it though he maintains that the player has the right to decide what he wants to do.
“It is an interesting question, and we are always talking about it,” Hasenhuttl told Hampshirelive.
“I don’t know whether it changes now, but I think it doesn’t help because the team made it to the World Cup and they deserve to play there, and he was not part of it. But what happens in the future, I don’t know, it is his decision,” He added.
The 22-year-old recently turned down a call up for Black Stars game against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff games.
Salisu has been in fine form for the Saints making thirty EPL appearances this season.
