Teenager Ernest Poku nets consolation goal for Netherlands U19 in defeat to Ukraine
Teenager Ernest Poku displayed top performance on Tuesday as he scored a consolation goal for the Netherlands U19 team in the 2-1 defeat to the Ukraine U19 side.
The Jong AZ forward on Tuesday started for his team when the side hosted the 2022 European Championship qualifier opponent for a chance to be at the tournament scheduled to be staged in Slovakia.
Just 15 minutes into the first half, Ernest Poku was presented with a fine opportunity and made no mistake.
He scored to shoot his team into the lead with a good strike.
Unfortunately, a red card to Robin Roefs two minutes into the second half turned the game on its head.
The Ukraine U19 team took advantage and came from behind to win the game 2-1 at full time.
It was all thanks to goals from Eduard Kozik and Kiril Popov.
The defeat means that the Netherlands U19 team will not be at the European Championship 2022 in Slovakia.
