Tema Youth appeals player Status Committee ruling over Joseph Paintsil’s transfer brouhaha involving Young RedBull FC

Ghanaian lower-tier side, Tema Youth Football Club has filed an appeal against the Player Status Committee ruling over Joseph Paintsil’s transfer brouhaha involving Young RedBull FC.

The appeal follows the Ghana FA Player Status Committee ruling asking Tema Youth to fulfill its obligation in the agreement with Young RedBull for the onward transfer of the Black Stars winger.

It can be recalled that in 2018, Tema Youth received three million euros from Belgian side Genk in the transfer of Joseph Paintsil.

Prior to that transfer, Tema Youth had signed the player from Young RedBull FC and agreed to pay a 30% of any money that will be earned from the onward sale of the forward.

However, after receiving three million euros, Tema Youth only paid 121,193 euros to Young RedBull FC.

Insisting that the club should be paid the agreed percentage that amounts to 900,000, Young RedBull FC petitioned the Ghana FA Player Status Committee to come to their aid and compel the Division One League club to do the needful by paying the outstanding balance of 778,807 euros.

After a ruling from the Player Status Committee ordering Tema Youth to pay up, the club appears not to be willing and has filed an appeal against the ruling.
