The 7th annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan football tournament launched by Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif

The 7th Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Football Tournament was launched at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra by Mr. Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports.

Mr. Ussif, who launched the event, stated that it was great for developing and promoting community sports, which was the primary goal of his ministry.

He expressed his excitement at last year’s competition, which was attended by superstars such as three-time Africa’s best player, Abedi Pele, and others, and urged the organizers to make more improvements for the 2022 edition.

Mr. Prosper Harrison Addo, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), stated that the FA was fully supportive of the event, adding that the GFA will support both competitive and recreational football activities.

He pledged to provide footballs as well as referees for the competition.

Mr. Tamimu Issah, the tournament’s originator, stated that it was here to stay and urged businesses to support them in order for the event to be a success.

The competition will include Ashaiman, Madina, Nima, Kasoa, Mamobi, Sabin Zongo, Tudu, Fadama, Hohoe, New Town, Nungua, Cowlane, Koforidua, and Darkuman in Pot One, and Alajo, Ashaley Botwe, Abeka, Shukura, Anyaa, Ablekuma Suhum, Tunga, Tema, Oda, Nsawam, Yendi and Takoradi in Pot Two.

The tournament will take place on the 8th and 9th of May 2022 at Accra’s Fadama Astro Turf.
