The focus is on club football – Tariq Lamptey speaks on possible Ghana switch
Brighton & Hove Albion defender, Tariq Lamptey has spoken about the possibility of playing for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.
The promising right-back has been a long-term target for the Ghana Football Association [GFA].
Ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, several European-born Ghanaian players have been linked to the national team.
However, the former Chelsea defender speaking in an interview reiterated that he wants to focus on his club football for now but will gladly honor a call-up to play for Ghana at the right time.
“I’m not sure yet. I’ve to just keep focusing on my club football,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.
“I’ve to take it game by game and then we’ll see,” he added.
The enterprising right-back has been been on good form for the Seagulls, playing 25 games in the ongoing campaign.
He has also featured for England’s U18 to U21 but is very eligible to switch nationality to play for Ghana.
