VAR equipments used for Nigeria v Ghana clash in Abuja reportedly stolen

Some equipments mounted to support the work of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the big game between Nigeria and Ghana earlier this week has reportedly been stolen.

The Super Eagles last Tuesday hosted the Black Stats at the Moshood Abiola National Sports Stadium in Abuja.

The game served as the second leg meeting between the two giants of Africa in the playoff round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Following a tough encounter between the two sides, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Ghana qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup ahead of Nigeria courtesy of the away goal rule.

Subsequently, some fans of Nigeria went crazy and invade the pitch as many equipments were destroyed.

Today, information gathered is that VAR equipments mounted on the day has not been accounted for.

While investigations are currently ongoing, it is said that the equipment may have been stolen by some of the rowdy fans that caused trouble at the end of the Nigeria v Ghana game.
