We are working to ensure we beat Ghana on Tuesday, says Nigeria defender Shehu Abdullahi
Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi has stressed that players are working to ensure Nigeria records the needed win against Ghana on Tuesday to book a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Last Friday, the Super Eagles held the Black Stars to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg of the playoff tie of the African qualifiers for this year’s global showpiece.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the reverse fixture in Abuja, Nigeria defender Shehu Abdullahi says the team is expecting a physical game from the Black Stars.
“It is always a physical game between Nigeria and Ghana, we expected that from them, it is normal and when they come here it will be the same and we are ready for them,” the defender noted.
According to him, Nigeria is focused on getting the win to secure a ticket to play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Nigerians expect a win and we the players know that so we are working hard to see how we can win the game for them,” Shehu indicated.
The reverse fixture between Nigeria and Ghana will be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
