We can't wait to have Nikolas Nartey back on the pitch - VfB Stuttgart director Sven Mislintat

VfB Stuttgart sporting director, Sven Mislintat, has highlighted the importance of Nikolas Nartey after signing a new deal.

The Denmark-born Ghanaian midfielder has signed a new deal until 2025.

Following his contract extension, Mislintat lauded the youngster saying he has proven that he has great potential and can’t wait to see him back on the pitch.

“We are very happy about the early contract extension with Nikolas Nartey. Until his injury, Niko played regularly in the Bundesliga this season and showed his great potential,” he told the official club website.

“As the current Danish U21 national player, he is on the verge of joining the Danish national team.

“We are convinced that after the end of the rehabilitation phase and with the start of preparations for the coming season, he will quickly build on this positive development.”

Nartey switched from 1. FC Köln to the club from Cannstatt in August 2019 and was subsequently loaned to Hansa Rostock and then to SV Sandhausen.

Nikolas Nartey has been an integral part of the VfB professional squad since the start of the current season.

Due to a free joint in his knee, the 22-year-old had to undergo an arthroscopic procedure in February and will therefore no longer be available for VfB until the end of the season.
