The Member of Parliament for the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency, Mr Collins Adomako Mensah has quizzed if the former President and 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama can be described as a tyrant following the expulsion of Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho from the party.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Wednesday, July 28, he said the NDC described the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, then candidate of the NPP as a tyrant and an intolerant person when the party took similar decision years ago indicating that all persons who suffered from the decision were persons who shared contrary views to him.
He said all persons sacked by the opposition NDC in recent times, including Mr Anyidoho were also people who shared different view with the former president and quizzed if he was fit to be described as such.
“I remember when our party took similar position against leading members of the NPP, Edem and his colleagues at the time said that because those people were seen not to be in support of then candidate Akufo Addo that was why they were being sacked from the party and that Nana Akufo-Addo is an intolerant person, he is a tyrant, he is somebody who cannot accept divergent view”.
He quizzed if the former President and the NDC couldn’t have used the same measure used to judge the NPP then and accept divergent views expressed by Mr Anyidoho instead of expelling him from the party he had served all his life.
“Today here we are , all the people who are being sacked are people we all know share different opinion about his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, is he a tyrant?, is he an intolerant person? Can’t he, his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, using the same measure the NDC used a few years ago, can’t he accept divergent views?,” he quizzed.
NDC expel Koku Anyidoho for anti-party behavior
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Tuesday, July 27 expelled Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the party over what they described as misconduct and anti-party behavior.
His expulsion follows some six month suspension over allegations of misconduct and anti-party behavior filed against him by two members of the party.
Speaking on TV3 News360, the General Secretary of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the anti-party behaviours included all publications in the media space attributed to NDC member and critic which were deemed to hurt the reputation of the party.
