Ablakwa names new Tagadzi Dorfor surgical block after Prof Atta Mills

Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has named the newly constructed surgical block in Tagadzi, Dorfor in the Volta Region after the late former President, Prof. John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills.
The surgical facility sponsored by MANOS UNIDAS, a non-for-profit organization from Spain and tooled by Mr Ablakwa is named the John Evans Atta Mills Surgical block.
In a post sighted by GhanaPlus.com, announcing the commissioning of the project on Tuesday, October 18, the MP said it is a great honour to him to name the project after the one time peaceful Ghanaian leader, widely known as Asomdwee hene.
Mr Ablakwa described the late Prof Mills as his mentor.
“We are ready to commission our new fully equipped Surgical Block in Tagadzi, Dorfor at my beloved constituency”.
“It is such a great honour to name this project in honour of the enduring memory of my mentor and inspiration, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills,” Mr Ablakwa in a Facebook post.
Ablakwa to commission John Evans Atta Mills Surgical block on Tuesday
Tuesday’s commissioning will be attended by the former Minister of Education and 2020 Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as the guest of honour.
Other special quests include the former Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Edward Doe Adjaho and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Keta- Akatsi, Bishop Gabriel Edoe Kumordji.
Ghana’s Asomdwee Hen
Ghana’s President, John Fiifi Atta-Mills dead in 2012, three years into his presidency which began in 2009 under strange circumstances.
Widely known as Asomdwee hen, due to his peaceful demeanor, the President also referred to by many as Professor Mills died at the 37 Military hospital in Accra after a short illness.
He died on July 24, 2012.
A statement from the Presidency at the time announcing his death said “It is with a heavy heart… that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the president of the Republic of Ghana”.
Prior to his ascension to the presidency and his later dead, Atta-Mills served the country in various capacities including the Vice President to Ghana’s late former President and founder of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Jerry John Rawlings.
