There is nothing a woman cannot do except leading congregational prayer – Madam Kande.

A mother of two, Wumbei Kande has started her business when she was still young. As a young and energetic lady started as an apprentice in a car mechanise shop in Yendi municipality of the northern region.

In a Letter part she proceed to the capital town of Ghana, Accra to continued her business in scraps for two year.

Madam Wumbei Kande however returned to her hometown, Yendi after a two year stay in Accra.

According her, “I was dating a man called Mr Wumbei in the same town who was craftsman I started following him to work till I also learned the work and can build a full house”.

The female Craft later got married to Mr Wumbei and broke from the crafts work at her gestation period.

After our first child ” I asked my brother from Accra to send me some CDs of Dagbani movies. All CDs she said were already used so I thought it Wise that if I rebrand the CDs for sale, it will give me money. I rebranded them in a case and started moving around communities in the Yendi municipality to sell” she added.

She noted that new CDs as at then were five Ghana cedis (5.00) but she sold it to her customers at a reduced price of four Ghana Cedis (4.00).

Madam Kande therefore used the income generated from the sold CDs to start her scraps work by going to surrounding communities to buy old motorbikes and other metallic objects.

Many mechanics over the past years started patronizing some spare parts from her leading to the growth of her business.

“…there is nothing a woman cannot do except leading congregational prayer” Madam Kande explained.

“Many people stigmatized me because of my work but that didn’t make me to stop the work I’m doing. I normally go to some occasions with my working gear and that alone had made people to stigmatized me” she further explained.

She therefore, advised young girls to stop limiting themselves to only dress making and head dressing alone but to widen their horizon to other businesses that can earned them a living and avoid chasing their parents and boy friends for daily bread.
