I DIDNT FILE FOR VGMA ARTISTE OF THE YEAR NOMINATION-JOE METTLE

Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle,known simply as Joe Mettle has been the center of discussion as he ha yet again been nominated in the 23rd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in the category for artiste if the year.

The gospel singer and songwriter known for hits that transcended the borders of Ghana like ‘Bo Noo ni’ , ‘ye obua mi’ and ‘my everything’ was the first Ghanaian gospel artiste from his genre to have won that same category on April 8,2017.

The nominees for the 23rd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were announced on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre and yet again Joe received nominations which has since then sparked discussions on both social and traditional media.

Ras Kuuku ,a colleague musician and dancehall artiste joined the discussion and distastefully questioned the merits on which Joe Mettle was nominated.

In an interview with Andy Dorsty on “Daybreakhitz” Joe mettle addressed the issue …Asked if he sighted the post from his colleague, he said “I saw @raskuuku’s comments about my nomination. I laughed when I saw it actually. He shouldn’t worry.”

Andy Dorsty went on to ask him about his nomination which the artiste honestly said he never filed for the category in question and said he was surprised to know he got nominated.
“I actually didn’t file for Artiste of the Year nomination. My manager handled that. I think that’s why it came as a surprise to me”.

He went on to say “There’s a criteria for which they use to nominate musicians and if the organizers think you fit a certain category, you will definitely be nominated”.Joe Mettle now is the most nominated Ghanaian gospel artiste in category for Artiste Of The Year in VGMA.
