Redhill Academy Holds Free Eye Screening Exercise At Abuakwa Housing
Redhill Academy, a private school in Kumasi in collaboration with Sunshine Ophthalmic Consult has organized a free eye screening exercise for more than 250 pupils and teachers.
The health exercise came off, Thursday, November 4 2021 at the premises of Redhill Academy at Abuakwa – Housing in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.
The exercise is part of the school’s responsibility to offer proper health care to its pupils. Syxtus Andrews Eshun, Administrator for Redhill Academy has said.
Speaking to OyerepaOnline, Syxtus Eshun said, his outfit saw the need to organize the free eye screening exercise for the pupils to identify their various eye defects and find appropriate remedies to them.
According to him, the pupils are basically his customers as well as future leaders of the country therefore there’s the need to invariably prioritize their healthcare.
“We all need to do something to help the kids, parents and the government in general….. We’re helping the pupils today but in the future too we’re trying to build a very good society.” He added.
Syxtus Eshun accordingly, urged other educational institutions to make the healthcare of their learners a major concern, hence offering proper healthcare to them.
Reconsider your decision and partner with various hospitals for this healthy exercise. It will help your school’s image. It lets society know that you’re responsible. You should beef up your game for the proper healthcare of your students and pupils as well as the success of Ghana’s education.” The Administrator counseled.
Dr Jewel Kyeremeh (Ophthalmologist) at Sunshine Ophthalmic Consult on the other hand said, “it is our biggest ambition to offer free eye screening to all learners to help them see very well as they study.”
He declared that foreign countries mostly offer free eye or health screening to students and pupils to facilitate their studies so it is about time schools in Ghana copied that trend to help learners.
He revealed that the Sunshine Ophthalmic Consult has organised a series of free eye screenings for certain schools in the Ashanti region.
“We want all other schools to know the importance of eye screening, especially at early childhood. We’re offering this exercise to at least those who may not be fortunate to go to hospitals to get better treatment to see.” He hinted.
