A 23-year-old Vincent Atobrah is in need of blood from donors to perform life-saving surgery.

According to his carer, when Vincent was 5 years old, he mistakenly drank caustic soda which affected his abdomen and other internal parts but after several visits to the hospital, he became fine.

However, about 3 years ago, there was a twist of events when Vincent started to feel the effect of the caustic soda he drank, with that, he could not eat any food or drink any liquid.

He was then taken to the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi where a feeding tube was inserted into his stomach through his abdomen to aid his food and drink intake.

He was then redirected to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital where he was diagnosed with a condition known as corrosive oesophageal stricture and surgery involving colon bypass is needed to correct the defect.

The total cost of surgery, anaesthesia, intensive care and ward stay is the cedi equivalent of three thousand dollars, ($3,000), which has been accumulated through the help of Skyy Power FM and benevolent individuals.

4 pints of blood are needed to perform Vincent’s surgery and individuals who are interested in donating blood must go to the Effia-Nkwanta blood bank and donate in the name of Vincent Atobrah.
