3 arrested for attempting to traffick 16 children to Côte d’Ivoire

A 37-year-old man named Kwame Tawiah and two accomplices were apprehended by the Ghana Immigration Service’s Half Assini Command at the New Town border station in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region for attempting to traffic 16 minors.

The 11 boys and 5 girls who made up the group of children were allegedly trafficked to Côte d’Ivoire to work as fishermen.

Our source claims that the enforcement agents were informed by two customs officers that the suspect was guiding kids through an illegal border crossing route.

The law enforcement personnel learned that all of the victims are from the Central Region during the official identification and questioning.
