43,051 students to sit for BECE in Western Region – Skyy Power FM
Forty-three thousand and fifty-one (43,051) students have been registered to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Western Region.
Out of this number, twenty-one thousand six hundred and seventy-one (21,671) are males whiles twenty-one thousand three hundred and eighty (21,380) are females.
This information was revealed by Western Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Felicia Agyebia Okine when she was speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Skyy Power FM.
Speaking on student preparation, she said the students are well prepared and not perturbed as they used to be during this period.
She added that there are a total of thousand three hundred and thirteen schools participating in this year’s at Hundred Thirty-Four (134) Centres where students will be writing the exams across the Western Region.
She said they have advised invigilators and students on examination malpractice and debunked rumours that the private part of students are to be thoroughly searched before exams.
Meanwhile, a total number of 600,714 candidates, comprising 300,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 participating schools entered the school examination.
The number of candidates that registered for this year’s BECE was 8.8 per cent higher than the year 2022 entry figure of 552,276. With regard to the BECE for private candidates, a total entry figure of 1,743 candidates was recorded.
This is made up of 889 males and 854 females. This year’s figure is 5.4 per cent higher than the entry figure of 1,132 for 2022.
