About 85 goats were stolen in space of 1 week in Shama District

There has been a rise in theft cases in Dwomo, a community in the Shama District of the Western Region.

The Assemblyman in the area, Mr James Ateiku says twelve (12) individuals have reported to him about their missing livestock, particularly goats and sheep in January 2022 alone.

He made it known theft in their community is now at an alarming rate and the people of Dwomo are not happy about the situation.

Speaking on Skyy Power 93.5FM, Mr Ateiku indicated 85 goats and sheep in total were taken from various homes within the week and if care is not taken, the people of Dwomo will take the law into their own hands which he is strictly against.

Also, He has set up a task force consisting of young men in the area that he is solely financing but due to financial constraints, it sometimes becomes inactive.

According to him, the task force in the early hours of Tuesday, January 24, at about 2:38 AM prevented a group of robbers on a mission to steal livestock from the homes of locals.

An alarm was raised and it was communicated that the robbers are already done with the operation and are carting away their booty in a truck.

They managed to stop the three robbers but they managed to escape leaving their vehicle behind.

The vehicle contained drivers licensed with the name, Atibila Amos and 4th June 1994 as the Date of Birth.

Also, they have reported the incident to the Shama Police and have forwarded all necessary information as well.
