Appiatse explosion victims receive GH¢200 each
The Appiatse local relief committee has on Thursday, March 3, disbursed an amount of GH¢200,000 donated by the government to the explosion victims.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the committee, Mr Thywill Quarshie confirmed this exercise to Skyy News as each victim of the explosion received an amount of GH¢200 from the committee, which means the larger the family, the higher the amount.
Also, families who lost members in the explosion will receive GH¢6,000 each from the committee as a way to commiserate their loss.
The 11 member committee which is to ensure the disbursement of relief items and strategize on how the displaced would be catered for throughout the year is headed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Prestea Huni-Valley, Dr Isaac Dasamani.
Dr Dasamani noted that a lot of donations had been received from the government, corporate institutions, especially from the mining companies as well as other private individuals, which ought to be managed for the benefit of the victims.
Some victims who spoke to Skyy News after receiving the money expressed their excitement as they claimed, the committee is doing exactly what they promised.
A male victim among a family of five (5) that received an amount of GH¢1000 in total from the committee expressed his happiness and praised the MCE for facilitating this process without any hindrances.
