The body of a student from Sekondi College in the Western Region who drowned on May Day has been discovered in the late hours of Tuesday morning, May 2, at Sekondi Mpi, near the Battery Doctor.
This comes amid reports that a third-year student from the said institution has drowned at Essei Beach.
According to an eyewitness, the incident happened at about 1 p.m. on Monday, May 1, when four male friends who are students from the institution went swimming at the said beach.
Whiles swimming, the three friends realised the victim was struggling and being dragged deeper into the sea by the strong tides, prompting them to call for help.
When rescue arrived, it was too late for the victim, who was no longer visible in the water.
The body has been carted away by the police to the morgue for preservation and further investigation.
