The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has placed under arrest Ghana’s former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Ms Cecelia Dapaah.

A statement from the office dated July 24, sighted by GhanaPlus.com and signed by the Special Prosecutor, Mr Kissi Agyebeng said she was placed under arrest in respect of suspected corruption and corruption related offense regarded large amount of money and other valuables reported stolen from her residence by her domestic staff.

 “Ms Dapaah is being questioned by authorized officers of the OSP,” the statement added.

Ms Cecelia Dapaah, a Minister in the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government have come under intense public criticism following report some $1 million, €300,000 and millions of undisclosed Ghana Cedis have stolen from her home by two of her domestic staff.

The other valuables includes clothes and bags valued at 95,000, jewelries valued at $95,000, six pieces of kente worth GH₵90,000, six set of men suit valued at  $3,000 and a cash of GH₵ 350.000

The theft was said to have taking place between July and October 2022.

The  case currently before the Accra Circuit Court with five persons standing trail over the development.

Ms Cecelia Dapaah has sine tendered in his resignation letter indicating that she is hopeful she would be exonerated from all allegations leveled against her by the public.

“I intend to cooperate fully with all the state agencies to enable them fully establish the facts,” she assured in her letter.

“I have no doubt that at the end of the processes it will be established that I have conducted myself with integrity during my period in public service and I will be fully exonerated from all the allegations,” she said in her resignation letter sighted by GhanaPlus.com
