Construction of Shama District Hospital to begin February ending
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Shama District, Mr Ebenezer Dadzie has assured that the construction of the Shama District Hospital will begin by February ending.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, broke the ground for the construction of a €32 million 100-bed District Hospital at Shama.
The two-storey facility is to be fitted with a theatre with a 6-bed intensive care unit, a recovery ward, pharmacy, and laboratory. It would also have diagnostic services to include a CT scan, a public health department, hospital administration block, kitchen, laundry, maintenance and a logistics building, and a mortuary.
However, since the sod-cutting ceremony, the site for the project has been abandoned and overtaken by weeds making residents of the community and some members of the opposition party in government question the legitimacy of the project.
Speaking to Skyy News, the DCE revealed that the contractor responsible for the project is now on-site and is ready to commence the project.
He said, “Hopefully by the end of February, the actual work will begin….I want the people to understand that this government has them at heart and should give deaf ears to naysayers.”
“This is a typical example of how people talked negative about the construction of the Ekumfi Juice Factory, doubting if it will ever be constructed but here we are today, the same way the Shama Hospital will be constructed for the doubting Thomas’s to see.”
Mr Dadzie urged the residents of Shama District to be patient as there are other projects of concern in the pipeline he is working on.
