The Founder and President of IMANI Africa, Mr Frankin Cudjoe has advised conveners of the #FixTheCountry campaign to stick to their original platform, social media in championing their cause for better conditions in the country instead of resorting to street demonstrations.
According to him, the group had achieved so much with the platform hence there was no need embarking on street protest adding that it would be a waste time.
“You know I part of me feels that the action in court was not necessary because the fix the country movement had managed to cause a stir, to have ministers, cabinet ministers I was just saying I was wondering why they even boarded to go to court to embark on a physical demonstration because they have achieved so much by doing it virtually. Really, I mean you started a movement which was quite in cephalous at the time and it had everybody talking and hastaging and what have you. Looking at the dynamics of it, I would rather have prefer that they even continue with the virtual platform because that was what triggered this whole conversation .
Mr Cudjoe made the comment while speaking on Big Issues on Citi TV on Saturday June 12 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He was of the opinion the campaign wouldn’t have achieved such feet if it begun its activities using street protests indicating what occupy peoples minds and hearts were much more powerful than physical demonstrations .
“Am suggesting that for me , I would have thought that the FixTheCountry conveners will just have continue the activism because you see what occupies peoples mind and heart is much more powerful than even having few people going to demonstrate”
“So my advice to my good friend …. probably I will tell him is that stop wasting your time, you know running around with policemen who are more interested in preventing you from demonstrating than arresting people who are organizing mass funeral, I mean you are wasting your time” .
The IMANI boss suggested the campaigners intensify their social media campaigns and support it with press conferences to drum home their demands.
