E-levy will be utilised judiciously

The Western Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Charles Bissue says the tax that is yet to be imposed on electronic transactions will be utilised judiciously.

Speaking on Skyy Power 93.5FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show on Thursday, February 10, Mr Bissue says government will give an account on the utilisation of the tax for Ghanaians to know the benefit and how their money is being used for the betterment of the country.

He said, “The E-levy will be utilised judiciously and the government will give account on how the tax is being made use of for Ghanaians to know how they are benefitting from the tax.”

This comes after Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the government, presented the 2022 budget, indicating a 1.75 per cent charge on all electronic transactions on Wednesday, November 17, 2021

The E-levy charges will affect all online transactions such as mobile money payments, bank transfers, merchants and inward remittance across the country.

Following the 2022 budget presentation by the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the announcement of the E-levy has been the topic of discussion as some citizens express dissatisfaction whiles there have been arguments between specialists concerning it.

Mr Bissue who is vying for the National General Secretary of the NPP also made it known Ghanaians should close their ears to propaganda by the ‘deceitful’ NDC since E-levy is all about bettering lives and advancing the country Ghana.
