EKMA sets to intensify security



The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) is set to intensify security in the municipality as a way of protecting its resident and assuring their maximum safety.

Speaking at the Third Ordinary Meeting of The Third Session of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly held on Monday, October 31st at the Municipal Assembly Hall, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr Kojo Acquah stated that Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) met on Tuesday 30, August 2022 to address the issues that threaten peace and the safety of residents.

He said through their security measures, the 2022 Annual Kundum Festival at Apremdo was devoid of violent clashes that have usually characterized Kundum Festival celebrations in the past.

He said, “Police personnel were deployed days ahead of its climax, monitored and enforced security during scheduled activities for the celebration.”

Mr Acquah indicated that a contract has been given to Jaysem Company Limited to construct a Police Post at Abenbebom-Apremdo to help reduce crime within the communities in EKMA.

Speaking on visibility in the community, the MCE revealed that the assembly has undertaken some installation and maintenance works on streetlights with the municipality to improve visibility and reduce crimes in dark zones.

He said, “Three hundred (300) 150Watts LED bulbs have been received from the Ministry of Energy and shall be installed before the end of the year.”
