The Western Regional Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is entreating the general public to be careful when purchasing consumable goods from small scale businesses.
Mr Abu Sumaila, head of FDA in the Western Region indicated that it is at this time of the year, precisely December, most goods get expired and shops try to sell them off at a discounted price.
He made it known most of the large scale enterprises, such as the Malls, normally remove expired goods from their shelf and go ahead to contact the FDA to assist in disposing of such goods safely.
However, when they go for expired date inspection in the market, they normally find such goods in these small shops which they go ahead to seize and dispose of safely.
Since we are in the festive season, he is entreating the public to be vigilant and also sceptical when they come across discounted and cheap goods.
