Farmers admonished to prepare adequately towards rainy season – Skyy Power FM



Farmers have been admonished to prepare adequately towards the rains in this season.

Speaking in an interview with Mr. Abraham Appiah the Western Regional Crops Officer, he said, it depends on the farmer’s choice of crop to plant. It is necessary for farmers to consider the weather and choose the right crops to plant.

To aid in this, farmers should consider certain cultural farm practices such as weeding he added.

“It depends on the farmer’s choice to plant any crop provided it is for home consumption or sales. After the land survey, the farmer can determine what crop to plant”.

“It is necessary to seek for knowledge from the right personnel before embarking on farming. This will aid the farmer to have good yields during harvest”.

According to him, perishable foods such as vegetables that easily get spoilt are from how farmers store the crops after harvest.

“Perishable crops that get spoilt easily especially vegetables are from the activities some farmers do such as adding too much fertilizers, storage stage of crops after harvest”.

He further advised farmers to seek knowledge on the right fertilizers and how to apply them at the appropriate time.

“It is necessary for any farmer to use the right fertilizer specifically organic fertilizer at the appropriate time”.
