Fire outbreak kills 4 family members in Effiakuma
A fire outbreak on Tuesday, February 1, at Effiakuma, of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality has killed four (4) family members.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 3:00 PM when a fire engulfed the home of the family whiles the victims were all in the house.
According to an eyewitness, it was difficult to reach out to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the early stages of the fire but when they finally got to the scene, neighbours had already rescued one of the victims, who is believed to be a 64-year-old male.
However, three of the victims, all-female made up of a mother, daughter and granddaughter all perished in the fire.
The mother, who is the wife of the male rescued is reported to be at the age of 60 years old, the daughter, 38 years old and the granddaughter, 6 years old.
The rescued male victim, who was sent to Effia-Nkwanta hospital died on Tuesday, February 2, due to the injuries he sustained during the fire.
Further reports indicate that the GNFS is gathering facts to ascertain the cause of the fire.
