Ghana spent over 1million cedis for Adwoa Safo's E-levy vote

The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa is purporting that Ghana spent 1million cedis for Adwoa Safo’s E-levy vote.

According to him, the government of Ghana chartered a private for the Dome-Kwabenya MP who was indisposed from the USA to Ghana just to vote on the E-levy.

Mr Ablakwa revealed that the G-550 registered HB-Joe and operated by Premium Jet AG based in Belgium was the executive aircraft chartered to bring in Adwoa Safo for her to vote on the obnoxious E-levy.

“It cost US$4,800 an hour to rent the HB-Joe,” he said.

He further stated “With an 11-hour flight distance, payment of reposition fees (as it flew from Belgium to pick her up in the states), payment for one way fees (as the business jet flies back empty), crew per diem fees, landing and wait-time fees; it cost a staggering US$140,000.00 at today’s exchange rate, that is GHS948,5000.

Mr Ablakwa further stated that the dubious claim that Adwoa Safo’s flight costs were paid for by her friends is almost insulting because he does not understand the motivation for these friends to pay for her flight, “why do these friends want the unpopular E-levy passed so badly.”

He however prompted the Office of the Special Prosecutor to look into the entire GHS1,068,500 expenditure Adwoa Safo’s E-levy vote and also an amount of GHS120,000 deposited into her account.
