High Court strikes out Jomoro MP's contempt case

The Sekondi High Court has struck out the contempt case against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Afo-toffey.

The court presided over by Justice Sedinam Agbemava, made the decision when the MP appeared before the court on Wednesday, March 9, providing the necessary documents on her alleged dual citizenship.

Mr Joshua Emuah Kofie of Nuba-Mpataba in the Jomoro Constituency initiated contempt proceedings against the MP after failing to appear in court to provide documents on her alleged dual citizenship before December 7 Parliamentary elections.

The counsel for the defendant, Lawyer Edzidzi Tamkloe told Skyy News, “The reason for the contempt had to do with some production of documents and we have taken steps to produce those documents, even the counsel for the applicants admitted that we have filed those documents.”
