The Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Ekumfi has said he is not a procurement specialist neither has he any certificates pertaining to the office he is currently superintending.
That notwithstanding, he said the activities of the PPA are governed by laws and guidelines and that should be enough to enable one do the right thing as far as procurement is concerned.
“By working with the law, I am not a procurement specialist. In fact I haven’t had any course in procurement but the thing is, you see there is an act that establish PPA. In there, there are regulations on the dos and don’ts. One source of confusion is the use of single sourcing. For me if you work with the law there shouldn’t be any problem, ” Prof Ameyaw Ekumfi said.
The former Member of Parliament and Minister of Education in the John Agyekum Kufour administration made the revelation in an interview with TV3’s Alfred Ocansey on Ghana Tonight monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Thursday, Sept 1.
