I fake my pregnancy to satisfy my husband – Takoradi woman tells Police

Vida Essel-LampteyThe missing but found Takoradi woman, Ms Josephine Panyin Mensah has opened up to the Ghana Police Service on why she faked her pregnancy and subsequent kidnapping.
According to her, she faked her pregnancy to satisfy her husband.
Ms Mensah’s confession was made known by the Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori on Citi TV’s Big Issue on Saturday, September 25 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
“From her account, she said she did it alone just to satisfied the husband. Is a pure family marriage issue that she wanted to portray that she is pregnant and did all those to the admiration of the husband and when the time came to give birth she decided to use the scheme she plotted,” he said.
ACP Kwesi Ofori said her confession makes her the sole suspect in the case and police would concentrate on her at the moment until something new comes up.
I am not pregnant, kidnapped -Takoradi lady confesses
Josephine Panyin Mensah,28-year-old on Friday, September 24 confessed to the Ghana Police Service, she was never pregnant neither was she kidnapped as was reported on September 22.
Report on the said day noted, Ms Josephine Panyin Mensah, a 28-year-old and heavily pregnant was kidnap at Takoradi on Friday, September 17, while on her routine dawn walk.
She was however, found at Axim, some five days later on Wednesday, September 22, days after her husband, Michael Simmons reported her disappearance to the Police but without her pregnancy.
Preliminary Police investigations revealed she was never pregnant neither was she kidnapped.
The news of her fake pregnancy generated some uproar across the country, as her neighbours insisted she was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
The fake pregnancy was however, collaborated by three different hospitals namely Takoradi, Axim and Efia Nkwanta hospitals in subsequent medical examinations.
Josephine has since been whisked to the Takoradi Central Police Station, from the Efia Nkwanta hospital where she was receiving medical treatment to assisting the police with further investigations.
