Foreign Policy and Security Analyst, Adib Saana has taken a swipe at the Ejura Committee of Inquiry over proliferation of security experts in the country comment made during day-two of the committee’s sitting.
Proliferation of Security Expert extremely frightening -DCOP Agyemang Adjem
Speaking at the Committee’s sitting on Wednesday, July 7, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP David Agyemang Adjem raised concerns about what he described as the proliferation of security expert in the country.
According to him, the development was becoming extremely frightening adding those experts know nothing about security but speaks as if they have all the knowledge in that field.
He also blamed them for inflaming tensions in the face of the security challenges.
“My lord I think one of the things that I think is becoming a bit of a freight is the proliferation of so called security expert. They also inflame tensions when some of these things happens and for me some of them knows next to nothing about security but they come out there and pontificate as if they have all the knowledge in security matters. It is frightening, it is extremely frightening my Lord,” he said.
Vladimir Antwi Danso on proliferation of security expert
Prof Vladimir Antwi Danso, a Security Analyst and member of the Ejura Committee of Inquiry in response to the comment noted he was in agreement with the commissioner.
“Commissioner, I am with, you know of late, the media they are my friends and I have been bashing them quietly. At times, they call me and I refuse to talk because they have spoken to somebody they have labeled as a security analyst. Even me, I have always warned them not to call me a security expert, I am an analyst. So I am with you, everybody sit on radio as security expert and the things they spew out has nothing to do with security,” he said.
Adib Saani on proliferation of security expert
However, reacting to the comment on TheKeyPoint on TV3, monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Saturday, July 10, Mr Adib Saani said the comment and subsequent support of it was an indictment on Dr Antwi Danso, who himself had taught many of such, including him.
He quizzed what he becomes if not a security expert, after he had gone through the system, studied Masters Degree in Defense and International Politics.
Mr Saani lamented the security was good in blaming virtually everyone in the country, except themselves.
“But one more thing that was said by one of the officer who came around is to the effect that they seem to be a problem, the media is to be blame, also according to him, proliferation of security analyst and that I find quiet interesting but what is quiet most shocking to me is Prof Antwi Danso’s rationalization of that statement because I find it as an indictment on him because he is someone who has trained lot of us.
“I mean, almost every security person, Prof Antwi Danso, he trained me back at Legon, he trained me at the Ghana Armed Forces and Command and Staff College so if I go through the whole system, study Masters Degree in Defense and International Politics and come out, what do I come out us, a tomato seller? I mean, let be serious, for crying out loud, everybody is to be blamed accept them and that is quiet a worry,” he said.
